From October through April, the weather lends itself to milder climates and the opportunity to cycle through the Hajar mountains to the East of Dubai. Several times a month, rides are organized beginning from the Hatta Fort Hotel. There are varying distances depending on ability levels from 70Km to 120Km round trip.
Click on calendar to see dates of rides with timings.
At the very least, these are to be considered intermediate to advanced level rides. While the climbs are not necessarily very long, they can be quite steep in the 10% - 12% average. The longest climb is approximately 4Km long.

Safety is at the core of our goals. While we all like to go out and enjoy the challenge of the climbs and descents, it is safety that we place above all else and offer the following guidelines:
- Helmets are MANDATORY - no exceptions
- When possible we ride 2x2 (flat sections)
- Keep RIGHT
- Use hand signals to alert following riders of hazards
- After long descents, slow to allow all riders to regroup
- Single file with LIGHTS ON through tunnels as a group
- On long descents, keep to the right lane - Do Not Cut Across Lanes
- ALL rest stops will keep to the RIGHT side of the road
- During ALL rest stops remain clear of the road
- NO ONE WILL BE LEFT BEHIND, be aware of your limits and make use of the support car(s).
- Please ensure you are self sufficient to the maximum extent possible. The support cars are there in case of emergency and do not carry spares or additional food and drink unless you bring them and put them on-board.
DESIGNATED STOPS:
During climbs it is inevitable that the group will string out due to the varying abilities of the riders. We have designated several stopping points in order to regroup:
Outbound:
- Prior to entering the Top Tunnel from the Hatta direction on the RIGHT side only (+/- 35Km from Start)
- (If Necessary) Prior to entering the Second Tunnel from the Hatta direction on the RIGHT side only (+/- 45Km from Start)
- At the Kalba Petrol Station (+/- 55Km from start)
Returning:
- Prior to entering the Mid Tunnel from Kalba on the RIGHT side only.
- Prior to entering the Top Tunnel from Kalba on the RIGHT side only.
- At the Green Grocery after the long descent and on the road back to the Fort Hotel from Wadi al Helo (if necessary).
DRIVING DIRECTIONS:
From Dubai take the E44 towards Hatta. At the Hatta Fort Roundabout, you will see on the left side the entrance to the Fort Hotel. They charge a nominal fee to park, but, will allow use of their shower facilities and will credit the cost of the parking towards food and beverage. There is also parking across the roundabout at the public library for free.
DO NOT FORGET TO BRING A PASSPORT or UAE ID CARD. You will have to cross two checkpoints at which you will be required to show one of the above forms of identification.
